Inauguration of the Aso Cabinet
The Aso Cabinet was inaugurated on September 24, 2008. On the afternoon of the 24th, Mr. Taro Aso, a member of the House of Representatives, became the 92nd Prime Minister (the 59th person to assume the post) since Hirobumi Ito, the first Prime Minister of Japan. Immediately after the designation, Prime Minister Aso formed a new Cabinet at the Prime Minister's Office.

Inauguration of the Abe Cabinet
Mr. Shinzo Abe, a member of the House of Representatives, was appointed as the Prime Minister at plenary sessions of both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors. Prime Minister Abe became the 90th Prime Minister (the 57th person to assume the post) since Hirobumi Ito, the first Prime Minister of Japan. After the appointment, Prime Minister Abe formed a new Cabinet at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. Afterwards, Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki, the Chief Cabinet Secretary, announced the list of Cabinet members.
