On April 8, the “International Soeverein Judo Cup” was held in the city of Lommel in Limburg province, in attendance of Ambassador Hayashi and his spouse, together with Ms. Ikoma. This year marked the 28th edition of the tournament, in which many judo practitioners from neighboring countries such as the Netherlands and Luxemburg participated, making it one of the largest judo tournaments in Belgium.
Ambassador Hayashi, together with Lommel Mayor Mr. Vanvelthoven, awarded trophies to the winners of each category and praised them for their good result.
During the tournament, exchanges with Lommel were deepened through judo, and it was also a special memorial for the Japanese student Ms. Misato Oi, who suddenly passed away at the young age of only 22 in April of last year. The mother and brother of Ms. Oi quickly came over from Japan to attend and watch over the players’ enthusiastic fighting.
