Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with
Rosette Star on Mr. Daniel Ost
22/12/2015 On December 22, the Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on Mr. Daniel Ost, Belgian flower artist, was held at the Official Residence of Ambassador ISHII. Ambassador ISHII expressed his deepest gratitude to Mr. Ost for his contributions to the promotion of cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and Belgium, introducing to him congratulatory messages with his close relatives and friends.
Deeply impressed not only with Ikebana but also the Japanese nature, the Japanese culture and the spirit of the Japanese people, Mr. Ost has contributed to cultural exchange and spreading Japanese culture through flowers, visiting Japan over 100 occasions to hold lots of expositions and lectures, such as Osaka International Garden and Greenery Exposition in 1990 and the Aichi Expo 2005, and having fulfilled decoration requests from royal families all over the world.
The Daniel Ost Academy, which guides Japanese flower artists and which Mr. Ost presides over, has an abundance of participants. The Japanese-Belgian exchange of floral arts unchangingly continues to this day, by virtue of the countless pupils that Mr. Ost has educated.
