150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium Opening Event at Durbuy

On March 18, Ambassador Ishii, Mrs. Ishii and Ms. Kurihara attended an opening event of 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium held at Durbuy, sister city of the Japanese city of Hanyu. Ambassador Ishii, Mayor of Durbuy Mr. Bontemps and Governor of the Province of Luxembourg Mr. Schmitz as well as other important guests were present on a bridge located in the center of the city to wish for friendship between Japan and Belgium and to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. As opening events, exhibitions of “Pierre Alechinsky and Peter Bramsen – 40 Years of Lithography” are held at two different venues in the city from this day onwards. At the exhibition, the works of Japanese artist and sculptor Ms. Akiko Miyano are also on display, through which the friendship relations of Japan and Belgium are celebrated.
