Uncovering Ceremony of Nello and Patrasche Statue

12/12/2016

On December 10, Ambassador Ishii, Mrs. Ishii and Ms. Kurihara attended the uncovering ceremony of the Nello and Patrasche statue in Antwerp, as part of Antwerp’s Christmas Market opening. In front of the Cathedral of Our Lady, Ambassador Ishii, together with the Deputy Mayor of the city of Antwerp and others, gave his welcoming speech before the uncovering ceremony of the statue was held. Following this, the story of “A Dog of Flanders” was projected on the front of the Cathedral using projection mapping.
The statue provides an opportunity to make the story of A Dog of Flanders, which is set in Belgium and famous in Japan, better known in Belgium and it is expected to further deepen the friendly relations of both countries on the occasion of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium.
