160th Anniversary of Friendship Japan-Belgium Event: Celebrating the king of sake rice- Discover Yamada Nishiki rice from Hyogo

On April 24, as part of the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan-Belgium, the Embassy of Japan co-hosted a seminar on the sake rice variety “Yamada Nishiki” with the Hyogo Prefecture Paris Office.
Yamada Nishiki, developed in Hyogo Prefecture, marks its 90th anniversary this year. Approximately 80 participants from Belgium’s food and beverage industry and among sake enthusiasts attended the event. They listened to presentations by producers and researchers on the basics of Yamada Nishiki and its cultivation methods, tasted sake made from Yamada Nishiki, and deepened their understanding of sake.
