160th Anniversary of Friendship Japan-Belgium Event: Ommegang

On July 1 and 3, Ommegang was held at the Grand Place in Brussels to commemorate the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Belgium, with Japan serving as the guest of honor.
At the reception held before the performances, speeches were given by Ms. Nawal Ben Hamou, Deputy Mayor of Brussels, Ambassador Osuga, and the representative of Ommegang, among others, and the guests enjoyed Japanese cuisine.
Performances included Awa Odori by the professional NEO Awa Odori group “Takarabune” and the Soran Bushi by the Japanese School in Brussels (on July 3 only), providing an opportunity for attendees to experience Japanese festival culture.
