160th Anniversary of Friendship Japan-Belgium Event: Rakugo Peformances

On September 2–3, as part of the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan-Belgium, the Embassy of Japan hosted rakugo performances featuring rakugo artists Hayashiya Sanza (Shin’uchi) and Shunputei Ikka (Futatsume) at a cultural center in Ghent and at our Japan Information and Culture Centre.
On the day of the event, the performers provided explanations about rakugo to help the audience deepen their understanding of the art form, followed by three performances. Many attendees were seeing a rakugo performance for the first time, making this a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of rakugo and Japanese culture.
