Job Opening - Cultural Assistant
 
The Embassy of Japan in Belgium is looking for a new employee at the Japan Information and Culture Centre (JICC) who can start working from the beginning of October 2026 onward. The contract period for this position is 6 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance. 
 
Job Description 
 
As a local staff member of the JICC Team, you will be mainly responsible for the Embassy's public relations and cultural projects. In concrete, under the direction of diplomats, you will prepare letters and speeches in English, French and Dutch, plan and manage cultural events and public relations and communication projects as a team, make use of communication tools such as the Embassy’s website and social media, collect and examine various types of information, coordinate communications with external parties, including telephone calls and email correspondence, do translation work (Dutch, English, French, Japanese), and any other duties as required by the Embassy.  
 
Profile 
 
・Adequate Working Permit 
 
・Excellent command of Dutch and English, business level in French, Japanese preferable but not a requirement   
 
・Precision and meticulousness in paperwork and management of supplies 
 
・Excellent knowledge of Belgian society and culture 
 
・Communication skills with a spirit of cooperation and flexibility 
 
・Adequate skills in Microsoft Office (Word、Excel、Power Point、Outlook, etc.). Knowledge of web design, web management, social network design and management is a plus 
 
・University degree 
 
Salary and Working Hours  
 
・Monthly salary 2,500 euro  –  4,000 euro (Gross salary. This is a salary guideline: experience, etc. will be considered) 
 
・Monday to Friday. Full-time 38h/week (in accordance with Belgian legislation)
