Ikebana Demonstration by the Headmaster of the Ohara School of Ikebana

On 4 October, at the Japan Information and Cultural Centre (JICC), Mr. Hiroki Ohara, Fifth Headmaster of the Ohara School, gave an ikebana demonstration as part of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium. Headmaster Ohara displayed 4 ikebana-arrangements. The demonstration proceeded while Master Ohara gave courteous explanation on the ‘Moribana style’ invented by the Ohara School, on vases and materials used, and more. At the fully occupied venue, the attendants stared with zeal to the art of making these gorgeous flowers arise from a vase. Also, the Ohara Belgian Chapter celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, and they took the opportunity to meet the Headmaster by organizing a workshop by the Headmaster and an Anniversary Exhibition at the Botanic Garden Meise on 2 October.
