Kyutaro Hashioka Noh Performance

On November 12, on the occasion of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium, the Noh theatre group Hashioka-kai was invited and subsequently performed at BOZAR. Following the welcoming speech of Ambasador Ishii, the Kyogen play “Bonsan” and the Noh play “Lady Aoi” were performed. The texts of the Kyogen play sometimes changed to French, causing laughter among the members of the audience. “Lady Aoi” is a representative Noh work which takes its theme from the Genji Monogatari. Noh theatre main role actor Mr. Kyutaro Hashioka played the role of the vengeful spirit of lady Rokujo. The spectators thoroughly enjoyed the classical theatre which unfolded on the simple stage before them.
