Opening of the “Festival International du Film de Bruxelles” (FIFB)

On November 19, at Cinema UGC De Brouckère, Ambassador Ishii, his wife and others from the Japanese Embassy attended the opening of the Festival International du Film de Bruxelles (FIFB). This year, for the 2016 Edition of the FIFB, Japan was invited as the guest country as part of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium. Following an opening performance of Taiko, President of the Festival Mr. Pascal Diot and Ambassador Ishii gave welcoming speeches and took part in a sake barrel breaking ceremony. As an opening film, Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s “Daguerrotype” (which is a Japanese, French and Belgian co-production) was screened.

The FIFB 2016 will be held until November 25 in various cinemas throughout Brussels.
