Durbuy Closing Ceremony

2016/12/9

On December 9, Ambassador Ishii, Ms. Ishii and Ms. Kurihara attended the closing reception of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium in Durbuy, the sister city of Hanyu. At a venue where calligraphies, prints, pictures and other works from Japanese artists or on the theme of Japan are exhibited, Mayor of Durbuy Mr. Philippe Bontemps, Ambassador Ishii, Federal Minister for the Middle Classes, Independents, Small and Medium Enterprises, Agriculture and Social Integration Mr. Willy Borsus, and President of the Municipal Office of Tourism and Person in Charge of the International Exchanges of Durbuy Mr. Rodolphe Brohée gave speeches. After the welcoming speeches, a video of the various Japan-related events in Durbuy and the Durbuy delegation’s visit to Hanyu was screened. This was a good opportunity to confirm the friendship between Belgium and Japan through the last 10 months’ activities in Durbuy, and the continuing exchanges in the future.
