Participation of “Team Japan” to Brussels 20 km
On May 28, Brussels 20 km was held. For this year’s edition and upon request of the organizer, the Embassy of Japan called for “Team Japan”, and approximately 40 runners and about 15 supporters participated. Besides being a follow-up event to the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium, the “Team Japan” participation was a run-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. T-shirts bearing the 150 Years of Friendship logo as well as the words “Road to Tokyo” were distributed among the participants.
At the starting point of the race at the Cinquantenaire Park, Ambassador Hayashi, together with Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid, Prime Minister Michel and Mayor of Brussels Mayeur, fired the starting pistol and cheered on the runners.
