Ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of Komatsu Europe International N.V.

On September 21, Ambassador Hayashi attended the Ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of Komatsu Europe International N.V. held in the company’s headquarters in Vilvoorde. He praised high quality of Komatsu’s products, technologies and people as the key of success. He also praised the sister city agreement between Vilvoorde and Komatsu city as one of the most important elements of bilateral exchange. This sister city agreement was signed in 1974 following the move of Komatsu Europe to the city of Vilvoorde and thanks to its origin in Komatsu city in Ishikawa Prefecture of Japan. Speaking of Japanese investments abroad, he emphasized that these companies create strong partnership with each local community.

Mr. Tetsuji Ohashi, President & CEO of Komatsu Ltd., came to Belgium to attend the ceremony. Also present were Mr. Hans Bonte, Mayor of Vilvoorde, and Mr. Lodewijk De Witte, Governor of the Province of Flemish Brabant, who expressed their gratitude to Komatsu’s contribution to the local economy.
