2017/11/15

On November 10, during the 100th study session commemorating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Belgian Association of Japanese Language Teachers, held at the auditorium of the Literature Department of the Dutch-language Leuven Catholic University (KUL), the Foreign Minister’s Commendation 2017 was awarded to the association in attendance of Ambassador Hayashi, Ms. Kono and Ms. Ikoma. Ambassador Hayashi expressed his respect towards the Association for its great contributions for the spread of the Japanese language in Belgium, made since its foundation in 1997, and handed over a certificate. The Association has organized study sessions and seminars, through which its members have made the exchange of information on Japanese language teaching methods and strengthened its network. Following the Ambassador’s address, the Association’s President Ms. Naoko Sakurai also held an address in which she looked back on the progress of the teachers' meeting so far and stated that the Foreign Minister’s Commendation will be a further encouragement for the future teaching activities of the Association.
