Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on Mr. Tanguy Van Overstraeten (2017 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals)

On February 9, 2018, the Conferment Ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on Mr. Tanguy Van Overstraeten, Vice-President, Chair of the Executive Committee and Director of the Belgium-Japan Association and Chamber of Commerce (BJA) as well as Partner at Linklaters, was held at the Residence of Ambassador of Japan in the Kingdom of Belgium. Ambassador Hajime Hayashi expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Van Overstraeten for his contributions to the reinforcement of economic relations between Japan and Belgium and celebrated this conferment together with his family and collaborators.
Actively involved in the initiatives of BJA, Mr. Van Overstraeten took the lead in establishing the Tax & Legal Committee within the BJA. Through his activities at the BJA, including by supporting the conclusion of the Social Security Agreement between Japan and Belgium which was signed in February 2005, Mr. Van Overstraeten contributed to facilitating investments between the two countries. Also as a lawyer, he supported a number of Japanese companies in their efforts to expand their business in Europe.
For these achievements and contributions, he received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on the occasion of the 2017 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals.
