“Yumemigsua” Opening Reception

2019/3/2

On February 28, the opening of the exhibition “Yumemigusa” by Ms. Masako Nakao, a Japanese artist living in Belgium, was held at the Japan Information and Cultural Centre (JICC). Yumemigusa is another name for cherry tree, and Ms. Nakao represents scenes of cherry blossoms in the evening on silk and linen by using the traditional technique of suminagashi (textile marbling) and painting by hand. In doing so, she presents works which capture the moments of ephemeral beauty. The visitors could feel the early coming of spring from the works, while the atmosphere at the venue was that of a traditional Japanese cherry blossom viewing. The exhibition is held until March 28.
