Reception for the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan
On 23 May 2019, Ambassador Hayashi hosted a reception for celebrating the Accession of the Throne of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at his residence in Brussels. Attendants included H.E.Mr Jacques Brotchi, President of the Senate; H.E.Mr Kris Peeters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy, and Consumer Affairs; Mr Herman Reynders, Governor, Province of Limburg; Air Chief Marshall Sir Stuart Peach, Chairman of the Military Committee, North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), as well as Belgian Parliamentarians; representatives from the Belgian Government; education, cultural and sports sectors; business sectors; and Japanese residents in Belgium, including Mr Kazuya Oimatsu, President of the Japanese Association in Belgium.
Ambassador Hayashi remarked that it was a great pleasure and honour to celebrate together the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, that the name of the new era, “REIWA,” meaning the era of beautiful harmony, is well received and largely supported in Japan, and that Belgium and Japan were expected to further advance the bilateral relations in the new era.
Under a sunny and warm climate in spring, the reception became an auspicious occasion with peace for celebration.
