Courtesy visit on Governor of Flemish Brabant and visit to Imec
On November 27, Ambassador Shimokawa visited the city of Leuven and paid a courtesy visit on Mr. De Witte, Governor of Flemish Brabant. During the visit, they discussed about how to further strengthen the existing good relationship between Japan and the Province of Flemish Brabant where we find 858 Japanese citizens and 75 Japanese companies (as of October 2018). After the meeting with the governor, Ambassador Shimokawa attended a luncheon hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, where he exchanged views with representatives of local companies.
On that occasion, the Ambassador also paid a visited to Imec, one of the world-leading research and development centers and innovation hub for nanoelectronics and digital technologies, located in the city, and visited its clean room where research and development is conducted together with Imec’s semiconductor-related partners including many Japanese companies.
