The 15th International MANGA Award Winner Announcement

2021/12/16

The Japan International MANGA Award is given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to MANGA artists who have contributed to the promotion of MANGA culture overseas and international cultural exchanges through MANGA. This year marks its 15th anniversary and we received 484 entries from 76 countries and regions, which replaced last year’s record-high number of entries.

Following the selection process carried out in cooperation with the Association of MANGA Publishers, and the selection committee of the Award led by Ms. SATONAKA Machiko (Manga artist), 15 winners were selected.
Among them, the Gold Award was given to “Days of sand” by Aimée De Jongh (Netherlands) and the Silver Award was awarded to “Always never” by Jordi Lafebre (Spain). Both of these works have been published by Dargaud-Lombard SA in Belgium.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the award winners. We hope that their future activities will contribute to further deepen the international exchange and mutual understanding through the MANGA culture.
