Ambassador Mikami’s visit at Imec

On 22 February, Ambassador Mikami visited Imec, a semiconductor research and development center, and exchanged views with its President & CEO, Dr. Luc Van den hove. Imec is a non-profit organization founded in 1984 in Leuven by the Flemish government, but now has developed into one of the world's leading R&D centers where more than 5,500 expert-scientists from 96 countries are working.
As a longstanding important partner of the semiconductor industry in Japan, Imec participated in the Belgian Economic Mission to Japan led by HRH Princess Astrid in December last year and signed an MOU for cooperation with the recently established Japanese company Rapidus, aiming to become a mass production base for next-generation semiconductors. The MOU signing ceremony can be found at the following URL.
