[Ambassador] Conferment Ceremony of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun on H.E. Mr. Kris Peeters, former Deputy Prime Minister (2022 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals)

On 11 May, Ambassador Mikami held the Conferment Ceremony of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun on H.E. Mr. Kris Peeters, former Deputy Prime Minister and current Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, at his residence. The decoration was awarded in recognition of his contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relations and the promotion of friendship between Japan and Belgium. At the ceremony, Ambassador Mikami praised H.E. Mr. Peeters especially for his important role in improving the business environment for Japanese companies, mainly in Flanders, since his time as Minister for Environment of the Flemish Government. In response, H.E. Mr. Peeters stated that he was very honored to receive this decoration and that this was also a token of the close relationship between Belgium and Japan.
