[Ambassador] Opening event of the exhibition Art Nouveau in Japan – A Return to the Source of Inspiration

On the 10th of August, the Embassy held an opening of the exhibition “Art Nouveau in Japan - A Return to the Source of Inspiration” (Venue: Halles St. Géry) and Ambassador Mikami welcomed over 100 participants with his opening remarks. This year marks the 130th anniversary of the Art Nouveau with various related events being unfolded all over the city of Brussels. The Embassy is co-organising this event in collaboration with the exhibition curator Ms. Saskia Thoelen, Assistant Professor at Bunka Gakuen University, who particularly highlighted the influence of Art Nouveau in Japanese kimono for this occasion.
Part of the exhibition items are also displayed at the Embassy’s Information and Cultural Centre between the August 10th to 22nd September as well as Halles St. Géry.
