[Ambassador] Awarding of the Ambassador’s Certificate of Commendation

On 22 May, Ambassador Mikami awarded a Certificate of Commendation to Ms. Marlies Holvoet, Assistant for Japanese Language and Culture, Department of Languages and Cultures, University of Ghent.
Ms. Holvoet worked at Kanazawa City Hall as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme for 2 years (2011-2013). After coming back to Belgium, she established “Ghent-Kanazawa Supporters Club”, and has been active to support the sister city relations between the two cities, convey Japanese culture to Belgian people, promote people-to-people exchange between Japan and Belgium. She also promotes Japanese language education in Belgium. She was awarded for her great contribution and dedication to the friendship between Japan and Belgium. We sincerely congratulate her on this award and look forward to working with her for further strengthening Japan-Belgium relations.
