[Ambassador] His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday Reception in Belgium

On 27 February 2025, Ambassador Mikami hosted a reception at their residence to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. We had the honor to welcome approximately 200 guests, including H.E. Mr. Pieter DE CREM, General Commissioner for the Universal Exhibition 2025 at Osaka, Mr. Mathias De Clercq, Mayor of the city of Ghent, Ambassador of Mission of Japan to the European Union Mr. Aikawa and Ambassador of Japan to the NATO Mr. Izawa, representatives from the Belgian authorities, international organizations, diplomatic corps, and businesses, education and culture sectors.
The guests enjoyed Japanese cuisine prepared by the Chefs of the Ambassador’s residence and Japanese Sake. A "Kinpaku" (gold leaf) workshop was organized to introduce the traditional craft from Kanazawa, the sister city of Ghent. The stand of the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai and exhibitions of Japanese companies’ products and travel brochures of local cities in Japan were also set up, which made the reception as a great opportunity to show the attractiveness of Japan.
