Awarding of the Ambassador’s Certificate of Commendation to Mr. Jean-Claude Deschamps, Chairman Emeritus of Newton BioCapital

On 7 May 2025, Ambassador Mikami awarded a Certificate of Commendation to Mr. Jean-Claude Deschamps, Chairman Emeritus of Newton BioCapital. He was awarded in recognition of his distinguished service in contributing to the deepening of mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the Kingdom of Belgium, especially in the area of life-science. 

He played a substantial role in promoting investment in Japan in the biopharmaceutical sector, supported Japanese researchers, and contributed to Japanese cultural projects, thereby dedicating himself to building cooperation between the public and private sectors and academia in Japan and Belgium. We sincerely congratulate him on this award and look forward to his further contribution to the strengthening of the Japan-Belgium relations.
