Logo design commemorating the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Belgium

2025/6/18
The recent public call for a logo design commemorating the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Belgium, resulted in a total of 159 entries from both countries. We would like to warmly thank all the participants and commend the high quality of their proposals.

The jury members, including H.E. Mr Masahiro Mikami, Ambassador of Japan to Belgium,  H.E. Mr Antoine Evrard, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Japan,  representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries,  and representatives of related organizations,  selected the work of Ms. Toos De Pauw, a 22-year-old student (MA student of Japanese Studies at KU Leuven) from Antwerp, as the official winner. Her logo combines the colors of the Japanese and Belgian flags and represents the ocean in a wave-like shape, symbolizing the friendship between the two countries.

We sincerely congratulate Ms. De Pauw. She wins a return flight Brussels-Tokyo offered by ANA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium.
The official logo will be used throughout 2026 in all activities related to the anniversary project.
