[Embassy] Reception to celebrate the New Year 2026
On 15th January, a New Year's reception was held at the Ambassador's residence, with the attendance of a large number of Japanese residents in Belgium, including the members of the Japanese association, and various people who actively engage in such fields as business, international organizations, media, culture, and arts.
In his New Year greetings, Ambassador Osuga expressed his respect for many Japanese actively contributing to the strengthening of ties between Japan and Belgium, and between Japan and Europe. He stated his desire to further deepen the friendly relations between the two countries on the occasion of this year's 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Additionally, a sake barrel-breaking ceremony was held to mark the commencement of the 160th anniversary of bilateral friendship.
The New Year reception was attended by Ambassador Aikawa of the Mission of Japan to the European Union, and Ambassador Izawa of the Mission of Japan to NATO.
