His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday Reception in Belgium

On 19th February 2026, Ambassador Osuga hosted a reception at his residence to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. The reception was attended by approximately 200 guests, including Mr. Denis Mathen, Governor of Province of Namur, Mr. Aikawa, Ambassador of Japan to the EU, Mr. Izawa, Ambassador of Japan to the NATO, members of Belgium’s federal and regional parliaments, representatives of Belgian authorities, diplomatic corps, international organizations, businesses, as well as civil society groups in the education and culture fields. The guests enjoyed the violin performance by Ms. Misako Akama, concertmaster of Belgian National Orchestra, as well as the Japanese cuisine prepared by the Ambassadors’ Chefs and Japanese Sake. The stands set up by the City of Kanazawa, Ghent’s sister city, and by Japanese companies and organizations also provided the guests with opportunity to discover the various attractiveness of Japan.
