On 24 September, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the list of recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2026. The recipients in Belgium are as follows:

Contribution: Promotion of sister city exchange with Ghent, Belgium
- Mr Daniel Leroy
Title: Vice President, Professeurs de français en Flandre
Contribution : Promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Belgium through haiku
- Mr Wim Eynatten
Title: Chair of Legal & Tax Committee, Belgium-Japan Association and Chamber of Commerce (BJA)
Contribution: Promotion of economic relations between Japan and Belgium
