AGC Europe New Headquarters Inauguration Ceremony”

On 30 September, Ambassador Ishii and second secretary Yamada, along with approximately 400 other guests, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of AGC Glass Europe, located in Louvain-La-Neuve, in the province of Walloon-Brabant. The new building is equipped with the latest ecological technologies, making abundant use of glass and utilizes solar power to generate electricity for lighting and heating and cooling, which results into very little energy consumption. AGC Glass Europe (the European corporate body of Asahi Glass Company), has over 100 glass production sites in Europe, including Belgium and Russia, and employs over 14 500 people in Europe. In addition, Mr. Heris (Person on the right in the left bottom picture), the company’s CEO, is the only foreign member in the company’s board of directors and he is also the president of Walloon Union of Economic Enterprises (UWE).
