Himeji and Charleroi: 50th Anniversary Ceremony of the sister city partnership

Upon invitation of the city of Charleroi, the sister city of Himeji in Hyogo Prefecture, Ambassador Ishii and Ms. Ishii, and Ms. Kurihara, attended the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the sister city partnership between the two cities. Mayor Toshikatsu Iwami attended the ceremony along with a delegation of Himeji citizens and a group of students who participated in an exchange program, and their host families. Following speeches by the two deputy mayors of Charleroi, Ambassador Ishii and Mayor Iwami, the students gave a presentation about Himeji’s main tourist attractions and its specialties. After the ceremony, the city of Himeji returned the favor by organizing a reception, where the students performed the yosakoi-dance and livened up the gathering. The sister city partnership between the two cities is the oldest one and it is also the one with the most lively exchanges.
