International Symposium on Carillon

On 24 September, Ambassador Ishii and his wife, together with Ms. Kurihara and Ms. Kuzuyama, attended the international carillon symposium “How bells connect Belgium and Japan” which took place in Mechelen, the sister city of Yuki. This event was part of the 150 Years of Friendship between Japan and Belgium. Through a wide program consisting among others of a carillon concert, a ‘wahensho’ concert and a haiku-contest awarding, participants were able to deepen their knowledge on the exchanges and history of the two countries through bells and their sound.
