Japan Culture Festival in Antwerp

On November 12 and 13, the “Japan Culture Festival in Antwerp” was organized by the NHK Culture Center. The opening on November 12 was attended by Ambassador Ishii and Ms. Kurihara. Deputy Mayor of Antwerp Mr. Ludo van Campenhout, NHK Culture Center Managing Director Mr. Wataru Mihara, Ambassador Ishii and BJA Vice-President Mr. Edward de Beukelaer gave speeches and took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony. For 2 days, around 70 participants offered a wide range of activities such as exhibitions, demonstrations and stage performances, including tea ceremony, calligraphy, painting and drawing, handicraft, dance and choir. Along with introducing Japanese culture, the cultural exchange with the attendants was deepened.

The closing ceremony was held on November 13 at the Antwerp city hall in attendance of Minister Yamada.
