Durbuy International Monumental Sculpture Symposium Closing Reception
On June 4, the closing ceremony of the International Monumental Sculpture Symposium was held in Durbuy (Barvaux-sur-Ourthe), in the presence of Ambassador Hayashi and Ms. Kurihara. Ambassador Hayashi, along with Mr. René Collin, Minister of Agriculture, Nature, Rural Affairs, Tourism and Sports of the Walloon government, Mr. Olivier Schmitz, Governor of Luxembourg Province and others guests, gave a speech, touching upon the Sister Cities between the city of Hanyu (located in Saitama prefecture) and the city of Durbuy and its cultural exchange.
The event was a follow-up to the 2015 edition, and the city of Hanyu was represented by its Mayor Koumei Kawata and his delegation came over to attend the symposium. At the city of Hanyu’s booth, its special products such as indigo dyes were introduced. Like in 2015, sculptor Kazuyoshi Hirai, living in Saitama, was invited to present his work, which has the sun as a theme.
