On June 22, “ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) lecture and demonstration” by Ms. Atsuko Bersma, senior teacher of Sogetsu school, was held at the Japan Information and Cultural Centre (JICC). The event is part of the “Japan Month”, a series of Japanese cultural events organized for the second anniversary of the JICC. While explaining about the history and characteristics of Sogetsu school and materials, Ms. Bersma demonstrated the making of 7 works. Many of the attendants eagerly took pictures and notes. After a lively Q&A session, the attendants enjoyed tasting Japanese “Yamecha” tea from Fukuoka, as well as chocolates offered by Royce, of which a new store opened in Antwerp.
