Visit by the Institut Alexandre Herlin to the JICC
On March 11 and 14, a total of 28 children of the Institut Alexandre Herlin visited the Japan Information and Cultural Centre (JICC). Ms. Kono, Director of JICC, welcomed the visitors, after which they viewed short films about topics such as sushi and ninja, followed by an explanation about Japan. The visitors then took part in a game using chopsticks, tried writing their names in katakana and tried a small conversation in Japanese. Finally, a group picture was taken together with the Japanese therapeutic robot Paro. The Institut Alexandre Herlin is a school for children and students with a hearing impairment, and with the help of their teachers interpreting in sign language, the participants thoroughly enjoyed the various activities.
