2022/10/6
On the 27th of September, the Embassy held a special workshop with Brussels Philharmonic and a newly appointed Music Director of the Philharmonic, Mr. Kazushi Ono. This event was organised celebrating the inauguration of the new programme starting on the 1st October with Mr. Ono at Flagey.
The event was attended by music professionals, teachers and students from music schools, as well as the headmaster, music teachers, and pupils of the Japanese School of Brussels, among others.
Prior to the event, we had an opportunity to see part of the rehearsal of the Brussels Philharmonic for the new programme. At the workshop, the three Japanese members of Brussels Philharmonic, Mari Hagiwara (violin), Sayoko Siobhan Mundy (violin), and Midori Mori (bass clarinet) introduced a beautiful musical rendition followed by a presentation by Mr. Ono, where he explained about his vision for Brussels Philharmonic as a Music Director. Mr. Ono stressed the importance of understanding the thoughts that went through the mind of the composer at the time of writing to truthfully reproduce the music as it was intended.
The participants truly enjoyed the powerful and beautiful performance by the Brussels Philharmonic, as well as the special workshop given by Mr. Ono.
