Japanese cultural workshop at Heritage Days in Brussels

2023/9/17
On the 16th and the 17th of September, the Embassy of Japan participated in Heritage Days organized by the city of Brussels and hosted Japanese cultural workshop. Heritage days are held every September to have the city’s heritage (buildings and the monuments) accessible to the general public. This year, as the 35 edition of the heritage days, Art Nouveau was chosen as a specific theme and multiple cultural events were organized. As a part of this, the Embassy hosted various Japanese cultural workshops on origami, kamishibai (paper theatre), tsumami zaiku (Japanese traditional craft), calligraphy and kinpaku (gold leaf) over two days at Halles St. Géry, where our Art Nouveau in Japan exhibition is displayed.

With huge support from L'Arbre à Plumes (kamishibai), Mr. Benjamin Guillaume (origami), C’ISM (tsumami zaiku), Mr. Michael David (origami), the workshops welcomed a large number of people from small children to adults, and they enjoyed experiencing Japanese culture.
