[Ambassador] 50th Anniversary of Daikin Europe

On October 12, Ambassador Mikami participated in the Daikin Europe 50th Anniversary event held in Ghent.

The event was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid, Her Excellency Ms. Van der Straeten, Minister of Energy, Ms. Van Cauter, Governor of East Flanders, Mr. Carl Decaluwe, Governor of West Flanders, Mr. De Clercq, Mayor of Gent, Mr. Tommelein, Mayor of Ostend, Mr. Inoue, Chairman of Daikin. In addition, representatives of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and business sectors also attended the meeting and engaged in lively discussions.

Daikin Europe began producing air conditioners in Ostend, Belgium, in 1973, and now has business operations in 129 countries. In recent years, the company has enhanced its environmental technology development and productions in Europe through its Experience Center for heat pump heating technology in Ghent and construction of its plant in Poland to produce heat pump heating for household.

Ambassador Mikami congratulated Daikin Europe on its 50th anniversary and thanked the Belgian Royal Family for its support of Japanese companies, while stating that the Government of Japan under the leadership of Prime Minister Kishida is advocating a new approach to capitalism that transforms social issues into engines of growth through public-private partnership. The Ambassador expressed his hope that Daikin will continue to show a good example in our joint efforts for a sustainable future.
