[Ambassador] 30th Japanese Speech Contest in Belgium

On 25 November, the 30th Japanese Speech Contest was held by Nihonjinkai (The Japanese Association of Belgium) at the Japanese School Brussels. Ambassador Mikami was invited as a judge and delivered an opening remarks, encouraging all the contestants.

The contest featured four participants in Group A (for beginners) and eight in Group B (for intermediate and above). They presented a wide variety of speeches.
Japanese Teacher Oikawa was also invited to the event as a judge and gave a special lecture on Japanese language learning.

The winner was Ms. Florencia Santamaria, who spoke under the title “Glad I’m learning Japanese”. The Ambassador's Prize was also awarded to Ms. Brit Celie, who spoke under the title “The Importance of Harajuku Fashion”.
