“International Network Lunch Japan” organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Walloon Brabant
On November 8, Ambassador Hayashi participated in the “International Network Lunch Japan”, as a lecture meeting on business to Japan, organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Walloon Brabant in Nivelles, and made a keynote speech on the Japanese economy and economic relations between Belgium and Japan. He explained that, at the beginning of the modern era, Japan’s industrialisation was conducted following the model of Belgian industries. He also talked about his prospect that, in today’s social transformation such as the aging society, the both countries’ industries will become more and more complementary to each other. He pointed out that both the new bilateral Tax Convention between Belgium and Japan signed in 2016, whose ratification process in Belgium is in progress (already completed in Japan), as well as the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) signed in July 2018, whose ratification is in progress on both sides, will expand the business relations between Belgium and Japan when start early implementation.
Representatives from the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce (BJA), Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BLCCJ), EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and the Walloon Agency for the Exportation and Foreign Investment (AWEX) participated in the event, and provided useful information for engaging in business with Japanese companies.
