Participation to RIKEN / KU Leuven Joint Symposium

On December 4, Ambassador Shimokawa visited Leuven and participated in the RIKEN-KU Leuven Joint Symposium held in the premises of Imec, which coincided the first anniversary of the establishment of the RIKEN European Office. Researchers from Japan and Belgium mainly presented their research in scientific fields such as brain science, life and medical sciences, and plant science.
Ambassador Shimokawa gave a welcome speech at the opening session and expressed his expectation that cooperation in the academic field will be strengthened through exchanges between researchers and students from both countries. Following Ambassador Shimokawa’s remarks, Dr. Ichioka, Director of RIKEN Europe Office, pointed out the importance of scientists from both countries working together to achieve a sustainable society.
