Reception for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces Day
On July 6th, the Embassy of Japan held the 2022 Reception for the Japan Self-Defense Forces Day at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence for the 68th anniversary of the foundation of the Japan Self-Defence Forces (JSDF). Admiral Bauer, Chair of Military Committee of the NATO, high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defence and the Belgium Armed Forces, ambassadors, military attachés from the diplomatic corps in Belgium attended the reception.
On the occasion of the reception, Ambassador Shimokawa Makita made remarks, stating that the JSDF needs to continue to improve its capabilities and skills in order to protect Japan's territory and people, as well as to contribute to regional peace and stability. He also emphasized that there is a limitation in what just one country can do in an uncertain and unpredictable situation in the world, and that it is more important than ever to cooperate coordinate with the NATO members and partner countries that share rules-based international order and the same values.
