2022/9/26
On September 13, Ambassador Shimokawa attended the 50th anniversary celebration of Takeda Lessines plant and unveiled a commemorative statue with H.E. Ms. Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade, and Federal Cultural Institutions.
At the ceremony, Mr. Wozniewski, Takeda's Global Manufacturing and Supply Officer, took this opportunity to announce a new investment of approximately 300 million euros for the construction of a state-of-the-art production facility and a carbon net-zero warehouse. Many distinguished attendees from the Belgian authorities, such as Ms. Lahbib and H.E. Mr. Borsus, Vice-President and Minister of Economy of Wallonia, paid tribute to the company's sustainable investment and expressed appreciations for its contribution to the local economy (the plant creates approximately 1,200 jobs).
The Belgian biopharmaceutical industry is increasing its global presence, and the further strengthening of Japan-Belgium cooperation in this field is expected through the Belgian Economic Mission to Japan planned in December this year.
